FAQ

Engagement questions

How fast can you scope and quote an engagement?

After a 30-minute discovery call we send a written scope with deliverables, timeline, and a flat fee or monthly retainer within 48 hours. No multi-week procurement cycles, no surprise change orders.

Why do not you list dollar amounts on the site?

We scope and quote each engagement individually rather than publish a fixed price list. The GIS work most clients need varies materially with data complexity, data sovereignty requirements, stakeholder count, and existing platform state. Quoting per engagement means you get a number that reflects your actual project, not a ballpark you have to negotiate around. Note that we do publish a fixed-price starter offer at /start for organizations that want a low-commitment first engagement.

How do you scope GeoConsult projects?

We start with a free 30-minute discovery call to understand your challenge. Then we provide a written scope with specific deliverables, timeline, and a flat fee. No hourly billing surprises. The price you agree to is the price you pay.

What is the difference between GeoStory and a StoryMap included in GeoPartner?

GeoStory is a standalone engagement focused entirely on producing a polished StoryMap or set of marketing materials. StoryMaps in a GeoPartner engagement are part of an ongoing relationship — they benefit from deep context about your organization, accumulated over months, and are typically produced faster because we already understand your data and audience.

Can we start with GeoStory and scale up later?

Absolutely. GeoStory is designed as an entry point. Many clients start with a single StoryMap to see our work, then engage for GeoConsult projects or transition to an ongoing GeoPartner relationship. There is no lock-in and no pressure to scale.

Do you offer adjustments for nonprofits or government agencies?

We work extensively with government and nonprofit organizations and scope projects to fit available budgets. If standard tier scope does not align with your funding, book a call and we will find a way to work together.

What about travel costs for on-site work?

Most of our work is remote. For on-site training, workshops, or stakeholder presentations, travel expenses are billed separately at cost. We are based in Denver, CO.

Not sure which tier is right?

Book a free 30-minute discovery call. We will discuss your GIS challenges, recommend the right engagement, and send a written scope and quote within 48 hours.
